Horatio’s Homemade Ice Cream
About
Horatio’s Homemade Ice Cream is a family-owned, small-batch ice cream shop in downtown Custer, South Dakota, established in 2019. Located in the historic 1881 First National Bank of Dakota Territory building, the shop crafts all premium ice cream, sorbets, and non-dairy options in-house, including fresh hand-rolled waffle cones, rotating seasonal flavors to keep their menu fresh and exciting. The shop is named after Horatio Nelson Ross, the first person to discover gold in the Black Hills in 1874, an event that sparked the gold rush and Custer’s founding, which the town honors each July with Gold Discovery Days celebrations.
