Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream
About
Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream is located at 209 Route 103 in Sunapee, New Hampshire and operates on a working dairy farm that produces farm-fresh, homemade ice cream, yogurt, and sorbet made one batch at a time. Established in 2009, the business began as the dream of Beck Johnson, who at age nine envisioned converting the family’s old sheep barn into an ice cream shop, with support from family and friends including his sister Maranda. The farm, which has been owned by the Johnson family since the 1760s and was named New Hampshire Dairy Farm of the Year in 2016, is actively involved in the community through hosting family-friendly events throughout the year and donating proceeds to the Sunapee Food Pantry, while also maintaining 750 acres of meadow and woodland protected by conservation easements with hiking trails open to the public.
