Dane’s Dairy is a cherished ice cream drive-in located at 1430 Willow Creek Court in Iowa City that has served the community since 1960. Originally founded by John Dane using ingredients from the family’s farm, the business started as a dairy stand before transitioning to soft-serve ice cream in the late 1960s. After 64 years of family ownership, Dane’s Dairy transitioned to new ownership in 2024 under Joshua Luerkens and Mariah Ritter, both of whom have deep family connections to the business and remain committed to preserving its local legacy while introducing modest modernizations.
