Bread Worthy Bakery is a women-owned and operated home bakery in Iowa City founded in 2021 by Colleen Brennan and Erick Dole, who met while studying at pastry school in Italy and worked in kitchens around the world before returning to Dole’s hometown. The bakery specializes in seasonal high-quality pastries and baked goods made with organic stone-ground flour from Janie’s Mill in Illinois, local honey and eggs, and premium chocolates from France. Bread Worthy sells pre-ordered items for home pickup, operates seasonally at the Iowa City Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from May through October, and maintains a weekend presence at DayDrink coffee shop.
