Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe

Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe is Boise’s first Afghan bakery and cafe, founded by four Afghan sisters—Bahar, Khatera, Narges, and Homeyra Shams—in December 2019. The cafe serves Afghan and Middle Eastern-inspired pastries, breads, and beverages, with signature items featuring saffron (known as “sunshine spice” in Afghanistan), along with specialty lattes and baked goods. With two locations in Boise and a commitment to authentic, handmade recipes, the cafe has earned recognition including James Beard Foundation semifinalist status for Outstanding Baker, while celebrating Afghan culture and hospitality through food and art within its community.
